PipeChina Longkou Nanshan LNG Terminal Berth Passes Completion Acceptance
The supporting berth of the Longkou Nanshan LNG terminal Phase 1 project, with SEPCO III-led EPC contracting and construction by CCCC First Harbor Engineering, has passed completion acceptance. Located at Qimu Island, Longkou, Shandong Province, the project adds a 150,000-tonne LNG berth capable of accommodating up to 266,000 m³ LNG carriers, with a designed annual receiving capacity of 5 million tonnes. During construction, eight old caissons were demolished in full, including China's first intact removal of a 5,000-tonne caisson, consolidating the terminal's role in supplying clean energy to the Bohai Rim and North China.
Hudong-Zhonghua Achieves Dual Milestones of New LNG Carrier Start and Delivery
Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has recently reached key production milestones for two 174,000 m³ large LNG carriers, completing the steel cutting of a new vessel and the delivery of a vessel under construction in quick succession. The dual milestones demonstrate the shipyard's capacity for batch, rhythm-based construction of high-end green vessels and further consolidate its position in LNG carrier design and construction.
TotalEnergies Moves Towards Papua LNG FID
On 7 September, TotalEnergies announced that the Papua LNG project has achieved major contractual and commercial milestones, including completion of the EPC tendering process, an amended gas agreement with the Papua New Guinea government, and transfer of operatorship to ExxonMobil, which will hold a 34.1% stake. Ignitis to Sign Long-Term LNG Purchase Agreement with EQT Subsidiary
Following a competitive tender for long-term LNG supply, Lithuania's Ignitis will enter into a 2027-2036 long-term LNG purchase agreement with a subsidiary of EQT Corp., committing to purchase 10 cargoes of about 1 TWh per year to meet residential gas demand. Pricing is linked to the US Henry Hub and the European TTF benchmarks, helping diversify supply sources, increase flexibility and hedge against price volatility for Lithuanian consumers.
Haidong Tunnel Breaks Through on Yunnan's Central Yunnan Water Diversion Project
On 8 September, the Haidong tunnel, a Class-I high-risk key tunnel on the Central Yunnan Water Diversion Project, the largest water diversion project under construction in China, achieved full break-through, opening the core conveyance corridor of the Dali section. The 25.313 km tunnel crosses 11 fault fracture zones and one active fault in a tectonically active area east of the Cangshan mountains and Erhai lake, with Class V surrounding rock accounting for 60% of the line, and took nearly eight years to build. The project's 664 km main canal will serve 34 water-receiving zones across six prefectures and cities, benefiting about 15 million people.
Shandong's Guanlu Reservoir Passes Impoundment Stage Acceptance
On 9 September, the Guanlu Reservoir in Shandong Province officially passed impoundment stage acceptance, moving from construction into trial storage and operation. As a key node project of the national water network and a backbone hub of Shandong's modern water network, the reservoir has a total budgeted investment of RMB 9.145 billion and is the largest newly built reservoir by regulating storage in the province in recent years. Once operational, it will optimise water resource allocation across the Jiaodong Peninsula and raise the city's water source reserve capacity to more than 120 days.
