Dagang Oilfield Gas Storage Complex Hits Record Injection in Summer Heat

The Dagang Oilfield gas storage complex has entered the late phase of its injection cycle. As of 6 August, cycle injection volume reached 84.32% of the annual plan, 141 million cubic meters more than the same period last year, with all 90 injection wells in operation and peak daily injection reaching 22.12 million cubic meters, a new record. As the largest seasonal peak-shaving gas source in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the complex has a maximum daily withdrawal capacity exceeding 30 million cubic meters, with gas reaching Beijing within two hours, building reserves for winter supply security in North China.

Yantai LNG Project Completes Breakwater Structure, Racing Toward Commissioning

On 13 August, the main structure of the supporting breakwater for the Yantai LNG project was completed. In the same period, the main bodies of four BOG compressors in the process area were fully installed, and the fire test pump motors passed commissioning and acceptance, with multiple key milestones achieved in succession. The project is an important LNG receiving terminal in the Bohai Rim region, and its commissioning will strengthen regional natural gas supply security.

Argentina LNG Applies for RIGI Approval with US$51 Billion Investment

Argentina LNG has submitted its application to join Argentina's Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) for its integrated LNG production and export project, with total investment of US$51 billion over the project's life, the largest private investment in Argentina's history. Promoted by YPF, Eni and XRG, the project will develop dedicated transportation infrastructure, processing facilities, liquids fractionation trains and two floating LNG (FLNG) units with combined capacity of 12 million tpy, operating offshore Río Negro in the Gulf of San Matías. Start-up of the two FLNG units is expected by 2031, with projected export revenues of approximately US$10 billion per year.

Golar LNG Orders Fourth FLNG Unit for 2029 Delivery

Golar LNG has executed an EPC agreement with Yantai CIMC Raffles for its fourth floating LNG (FLNG) unit, the second of the MKII design, with a liquefaction capacity of 3.5 million tpy and a total budget of approximately US$2.45 billion. Expected to be delivered by end of 2029, it will be the earliest available FLNG capacity globally. Built to the same design as the FLNG Esperanza, the repeat build delivers significant synergies. The order increases Golar's controlled liquefaction capacity by about 40% to above 12 million tpy.

Technip Energies Awarded FEED Contract for Malaysia's RGT Yan Project

Technip Energies has been awarded a FEED contract for the offshore Regasification Terminal (RGT) Yan project in Kedah, northwest Malaysia. Jointly developed by Gas Malaysia, Tokyo Gas Asia and VTTI, the terminal will have a capacity of 6 million tpy and will comprise an offshore FSRU, marine infrastructure, a subsea gas pipeline and an onshore receiving facility. The project will introduce a new LNG entry point in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia, strengthening the resilience and flexibility of the country's natural gas supply to support growing industrial and power demand.

MOL Completes CNOOC Six-Vessel LNG Carrier Project

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has announced the delivery of Greenergy Cloud, the sixth and final LNG carrier in the CNOOC series, on 1 July 2026, marking the completion of the six-vessel newbuilding project that began with the signing of the shipbuilding contract in January 2022. The series, from Greenergy Ocean to Greenergy Cloud, will serve CNOOC's LNG transportation needs, further strengthening China's LNG import shipping capacity.

Axpo and Vitol Launch LNG Bunkering at Italy's Largest Cruise Port

Axpo and Vitol have completed the first LNG bunkering operation at the Port of Civitavecchia in Italy, refuelling a flagship vessel of a leading international cruise line. The port now joins Genoa and Naples in offering LNG refuelling services. The 7,500 m³ Italian bunkering vessel Green Pearl, operated by Axpo, safely conducted the ship-to-ship operation, marking an important milestone in developing infrastructure and services for alternative maritime fuels in Italian ports.

Yiwu's Badu Reservoir to Yangmeigang Regulating Pond Water Diversion Project Begins Operation

The water diversion project from Badu Reservoir to the Yangmeigang regulating pond in Yiwu has completed full-line commissioning, officially restoring water supply from Badu Reservoir. The original open aqueduct, in service since 1998 and supplying raw water to northeast Yiwu for nearly 30 years, was approaching its design life and facing leakage issues. The new project, 7.1 km in length, uses fully enclosed pipelines to eliminate the safety risks of the ageing aqueduct while reducing evaporation losses, improving water use efficiency and safeguarding water quality.

Xiangyang Accelerates Urban Alternative Water Source Project, Switching Main Source to Danjiangkou

Construction of the Xiangyang urban alternative water source project (Xiangdan Water Plant) is being accelerated, with all six sections back at work and nearly 600 workers on site. Main structures including the V-type filter, backwash pump house and sedimentation flocculation tank are about to be topped out. With a total investment of about RMB 2 billion, the project relies on the North Hubei Water Resources Allocation Project to switch the city's main water source from the Han River to the Danjiangkou Reservoir. New pipelines will cross the Han River three times and pass under the Tangbai River once, creating a new 'one network, two plants, five districts' water supply pattern connecting five districts of the city.

PCWA Awards US$170.5 Million Contract to Build Ophir Water Treatment Plant

Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) in California has awarded a US$170.5 million construction contract to W.M. Lyles Co. to build the Ophir Water Treatment Plant in Auburn. Construction is expected to begin in October 2026, with the facility operational by 2030. The plant will initially add 10 MGD of treated water capacity, master planned for 30 MGD, with underground pipelines designed to accommodate up to 60 MGD if future regional needs require it. The total project cost is estimated at approximately US$206 million, funded through Water Connection Charges, and represents one of PCWA's most significant water infrastructure investments in decades.

Acwa and PT GARAM to Build US$400 Million Desalination and Salt Project in Indonesia

Saudi-listed Acwa, formerly ACWA Power, has signed a joint development agreement with PT GARAM, Indonesia's state-owned salt company, to build the country's first large-scale facility combining seawater desalination with industrial salt production in Gresik, East Java. The plant will pair a seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) unit with a salt production line, expected to supply around 62,500 cubic meters of desalinated water daily for industrial users and produce roughly 500,000 tons of high purity industrial salt per year, at an estimated cost of US$400 million. A central feature is the recovery of high purity salt from the brine generated during desalination, with potential to extract other marine minerals in future.
